Judy's Kitchen

It was a Downtown Business Alliance meeting, on Wednesday morning, that met at Judy's Kitchen and discussed a variety of activities that the group is planning for the upcoming weeks. President Rita Edwards called the meeting to order following a delicious breakfast meal hosted by Judy Gilreath, and began discussions with the Thursday night, Beatlegras Concert, to be held on the Downtown Square. "We're hoping for a large crowd and have all of the restaurants open and many businesses who are staying open for after-hours shopping," announced Edwards. "It should be a wonderful night in Downtown Sulphur Springs!"

Edwards then announced that the traffic on the inside of the Downtown Square would be closed on Saturday, when the Market Square Flea Market would be "center stage," before, during, and after the Fall Festival Parade. "We're again planning for a large crowd of people and have a number of vendors who will be offering their wares from booths on the Square," related Edwards.

Edwards will also be the program for the Thursday noon Rotary Club Luncheon, when she will outline the many features of the Downtown area and all the upcoming changes that are planned. "We have a number of exciting things happening and we welcome the opportunity to go out and tell people about what is happening in Downtown Sulphur Springs," advised Edwards. "Our group is extremely active and intent on making a difference in Sulphur Springs, by bringing entertainment and business to the Downtown area."

Help for "putting the final touches" on the DBA entry in the Fall Festival Parade Float Contest, was solicited from the membership and members were encouraged to mark their calendars for the Classic Car Show on the Downtown Square, that is slated for October 27th, 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

The Downtown Business Alliance is also asking members to become involved in making plans for the upcoming Christmas Festival, that will again be a tourist attraction to the Downtown area during the yuletide season.

venue, that will be serving Texas wines and beer, in the downtown area of Sulphur Springs, once
the application process is completed.

In conjunction with the Downtown Business Alliance Meeting, Angie Chapa with ABC Liquor Licensing Company, was on-hand to solicit support and members for the proposed private club, that will be named J's Place. The club will be a nighttime opportunity for patrons to be served wine and beer in Judy's Kitchen, along with their meals. Judy Gilreath will serve as the Company Manager and a three member committee will serve to screen potential members. It was announced that over 100 people had requested memberships in the club, with a location at 307 Main Street.
