2012 Dairy Festival Candidates Meet
With Board on Monday Night
by: Bobby McDonald
It was a "get-acquainted" opportunity for prospective candidates and their parents to meet with the Dairy Festival Board and to discuss the 2012 Hopkins County Dairy Festival, on Monday night, when the board hosted the annual informal dinner, at the Southwest Dairy Museum. "It's just and opportunity for those girls that plan to participate to meet with all of us and ask questions, get answers, and become prepared for the upcoming contest," advised Dr. David Black, 2012 President of the Hopkins County Dairy Festival Board. "We want to make all of the young ladies and their parents comfortable about the upcoming festival and all of the activities. The candidates are a major part of the festival and our tribute to the hard working dairy farm families of Hopkins County!"

Members of the board outlined the rules for the pageant, all of the many activities that are planned for the upcoming, week-long festival, and told prospective candidates and their parents that they must make a definite decision to participate by April 2nd. "We're fortunate this year to have a large number of you that are planning on participating and even have a waiting list, so we need your information and commitments by this deadline to make this a great opportunity for you!" expressed Gena Prickette and Cindy Lancaster, as they answered questions about the festival and rules of participation.
Reigning Hopkins County Dairy Festival Queen, Lindsey McCormack,
offered her encouragement to those who plan to participate, as it being
a wonderful experience and an opportunity to meet people in the community.
"I promise you, it's going to be fun!" exclaimed Gena, as she told about her former participation in the festival, and explained the hot aire balloon rally, milking contest, and the parade!

If someone wants to participate in this year's festival and wants on the list they can contact David Black at deblack@suddenlinkmail.com or Lynda Hager at lhager@gnty.com.
"We're excited about this year's festival that will feature the theme 'Cow-a-Bunga-Welcome to the MOO-au!" and will feature a giant luau party, hosted in Dairyland!" expressed Lancaster. "So you can only imagine the fun we'll have with this theme! Come join the party!"
