The gym at Douglas Intermediate School was "packed" with parents, teachers, and supporters of the 5th Grade Strings and Choir students, on Thursday night, at 6:00 p.m., as the annual Christmas Concert was performed. The program featured man of the favorite Christmas carols and displayed the young talent in the fine arts department of SSISD.

The program began with introductions and with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flags, and was followed by a student prayer. Then, Mr. Garet Holdren, director of the Strings Program, introduced the "Snowflake" and "Snowman" orchestras, who performed Good King Wenceslas,
Jolly Ol' St. Nicholas, as well as other selections.

Then, the audience was asked to participate in a "Sing-a-Long" of Winter Wonderland, Joy to the World, and Jingle Bells.

This section of the program was followed by the 5th grade choirs taking to the risers and delivering, Papa's on the Housetop, Silver Bells, The Chipmunk Song, White Christmas, and Rock Around the Jingle Bells.

The concert ended with a group presentation of the beautiful Silent Night, with a joint effort of the orchestra and choir.
