For four individuals Saturday was a "lucky" day, as their ducks were the winning ducks that crossed the finish line in the 4th Annual Great American Duck Race, held immediately following the World Champion Stew Contest. Saturday's contest featured Gary Delaney's yellow duck crossing the finish line first, and winning the $500.00 prize. Second duck was a blue duck owned by Nestor Vasquez, winning $250.00, while another blue duck, owned by Nancy Herman made its way across the line in the third position, for a $100.00 prize. Samantha Ruiz was the owner of the "Lame Duck" that came in last place during the prescribed time! Congratulations to these winners!

were put in the "Aqua Duck" for Saturday's race.

Saturday's Duck Race found the Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce, who sponsors the event, selling all of their ducks, with patrons still wanting to purchase them. You can bet that more ducks will be ordered next year, so that everyone will have the opportunity to purchase one!

Meanwhile, while folks were eating stew, racing ducks, and listening to the Cover Girl results, the Lake Country Tractor Pull was underway, in the air conditioned arena of the Hopkins County Civic Center. Local tractor pulling enthusiasts had their antique tractors "pulling" for prizes, as the past was brought to life, before the crowd. Almost any model of antique tractor was featured and a number of prizes were awarded for them.

The Oldest Tractor Award went to a 1924 tractor, that really brought back memories for those farmers who saw the change on the farm from "mule power" to "horsepower!"

A 1924 model Tractor won the "Oldest Tractor Award" at Saturday's Pull.

"It was great to 'sneak' into the Civic Center with a bowl of stew, sit down in the bleachers, and see the antique tractors, that were such a part of growing up in rural Hopkins County," exclaimed one enthusiast. "These old tractors bring back so many memories and it was good in cool inside!"

"Horsepower" in action, at Saturday's Lake Country sponsored Tractor Pull was the finale to the
2007 Hopkins County Fall Festival.

Smoke bellowed and the roar of engines made the Tractor Pull a memorable finale for the 2007 Hopkins County Fall Festival!
