"Green eggs and ham....."

It was a day of reading enrichment and literary enhancement at Cumby ISD, on Friday, as students observed Dr. Seuss' 108th birthday and particiapted in the "Reading Across America Day." "This is your opportunity to enjoy a day of reading and interact with some guests from the community who will be reading to you in your classrooms," explained Cumby Elementary Principal, Shelley Slaughter, as she spoke to students in a morning assembly. "She then advised the students that they would first share a video with football player, Tim Tebow, reading Green Eggs and Ham, by Dr. Seuss!"

Football celebrity, Tim Tebow, read to the Cumby students via video
and we didn't see any signs of Taylor Swift!

And, you guessed it, Friday morning's breakfast at Cumby ISD was "green eggs and ham," prepared by the wonderful food service ladies at Cumby, who "got with the program" and prepared a delicious meal, to help the students learn!

And, once the students made their way to their classrooms, it was a wide variety of community resource people, who read to them from favorite Dr. Seuss selections:

Dr. Dan Jones, President of TAMU-C, was the guest reader in this class.

Cumby ISD Board member, graduate, and singer Lou Ann Petty,
read to this class.

Members of the Cumby Telephone management and staff took time from their busy schedules to read
to these students.

And AFLAC Representative, LeeAnn Oliver, brought her friend,
the AFLAC Duck, to help her in reading to her students.

And, these inspiring students in Mrs. Bailey's second-grade class, had to "suffer through" with me being their
guest reader. But, we had a great time!

And, Little Miss Addey Owens was the lucky winner of a drawing
where she was awarded a Dr. Seuss hat!

Congratulations, Cumby Elementary on
a Great Day of Reading Literacy!!!
