Fall Festival Board Hosts
Tuesday Mixer
by: Bobby McDonald
With the 2012 Hopkins County Fall Festival opening in a little over a week, the Fall Festival Board of Directors hosted a Chamber of Commerce Mixer, on Tuesday evening, at the Hopkins County Regional Civic Center, to announce some new events and get everyone ready for the annual celebration. Board President Anita Gardner welcomed the large crowd of community supporters and introduced those that are chairs of the various committees and events. The traditional events will be held, including the Cover Girl Contest, Duck Race, Gospel Song Fest, Quilt Show, and Hotdog Eating Contest, but some new events such as Hay "Bucking" and Senior Bull Riding will be added to this year's great line-up of entertainment.

This year's celebration will "kick-off" with the Fall Festival Parade on Saturday, September 8th, as it winds its way through Sulphur Springs. This year's Parade Marshall, Bobby McDonald, was recognized and presented with a placque.

A number of door prizes were awarded and loads of visiting ensued, following the introductions. A complete schedule of events for this year's Fall Festival is included in our Fall Festival Section.
This year's reigning Cover Girl was joined by the six candidates vying for the title.
Buddy Gore was recognized for his almost 30 years of service to the Fall Festival Board.
