Local Teacher Recognized by IBAT
at Monday Night SSISD Board Meeting

Representatives of Alliance Bank and Guaranty Bond Bank meet with Amber Weaver and IBAT Representative,
Mary Lange, as Weaver accepts her award on Monday night.

"It's always exciting to learn that we're doing something good!" expressed Jason Dietz, President of the SSISD Board of Education. "And, we're extremely excited for High School Teacher, Amber Weaver, who has been recognized by the Texas Independent Bankers Association of Texas, for her outstanding applications in the classroom!"

Weaver, who was presented with the honor and a check for $1000.00, at Monday night's board meeting, teaches financial principles in her high school classes, encouraging her students to become proactive with their personal finances and make wise decisions. She told of several examples of how her students had developed sound financial management from the curriculum and even related that one student had asked for an "IRA" for Christmas!

Local Bankers, Kevin Monk of Alliance Bank, and Craig Roberts of Guaranty Bond Bank, after seeing the outstanding job that Weaver did in the classroom, nominated her for the state-wide award with the IBAT. Weaver was one of seven teachers in the state of Texas chosen for this year's award! Congratulations to Amber Weaver and her students!
