"Mountain of Good" Food Drive
Collects Over 25 Pallets of Food For Needy

With record numbers of people participating in the "One Month to Live" series, it was not a surprise that the "Mountain of Good" Food Drive saw large numbers of people contributing to the effort, on Sunday. The vacant parking lot, south of the Brookshire's Food Store, was the collection point, as people from all across Hopkins County made their way to contribute. First Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs had solicited the help of a semi-tractor trailer to bring their own collections to the site, and Brookshires had ten pallets already collected.

"We had donations from truck loads to just a few cans," allowed organizers. "And all of it will be delivered to the local Food Bank, so that it can be used for those in need!"

The community outreach was just one of the planned activities for those participating in the One Month to Live series, at local churches.

"It's great to see people thinking of other people," related Joe Don Pogue, from First Baptist Church. "We were amazed at the amount of food that was brought to our services this morning!"

"Hopefully, this will keep the local food bank supplies and the needy in this area fed, for a long period time," stated several of those working on the collection drive. "The local food bank has more calls and needs now that economic times are more difficult and this was a logical place for us to have an outreach!"

The One Month to Live series will complete with next Sunday, March 7th, services at those churches participating.
