You've packed away the tux and the dress has even come back from the cleaners, but for the Lights of Life Gala Committee, planning for next year's event is already underway. The committee paused on Tuesday night, with a "wrap-up" meeting and celebration, where they discussed improvements and ideas for next year's event. "It's all part of the process," explained Arvis Tanton, Chair of this Year's Gala Committee. "We need to discuss the event and offer suggestions, improvements, and ideas to make next year's event even more of a success."

The meeting, hosted at the Southwest Dairy Museum, on Tuesday night, featured a "line-by-line" appraisal of all of the features of the 2013 event, to seek for ways to improve the event. Discussions about the menu, the service, the decorations, and even the flow of people through the lines, were conducted, as well as bands, table purchases, and ticket sales, to lost items at the event.

"We conduct this meeting to seek ways for everyone to improve and make certain that we're meeting the needs of the over 500 guests that attend the event," expressed Jackie Thornton, Hospital Foundation Director. "When the event is 'fresh' on everyone's minds and the comments that have been made in the community are still on our minds, it's a great opportunity to offer suggestions for an even more successful event."

Thornton announced to the committee that they had raised over $232,000.00 in gross funds with the event, exceeding the previous year's total and the goal of this year's committee. "We did outstanding!" exclaimed Thornton. "This allows us to add money to our endowment fund, and to fund the project for the monitoring system at the hospital, this year!"

Plans were made for a "check presentation" in March, with an accompanying reception at Hopkins County Memorial Hosptial, where major sponsors will be recognized and introduced.

"Sheila and I would like to thank each and every one of you for your untiring efforts in making this year one we will remember forever," expressed Tanton, as he and his wife presented each committee member with a personal gift for their contributions. "You've truly made this an eventful and gratifying year in serving our community!"

Congratulations Gala Committee
on a Great Job!!!
