It's down to the "check list" for the Lights of Life Gala Committee, as they moved into the newly remodeled Hopkins County Regional Civic Center, on Thursday afternoon. From getting sound and video equipment working, staging set, and yes, a vintage car into the foyer of the center, members of the committee were working "feverishly" to have everything ready for the "red carpet" entrance on Saturday night.

"We'll be here almost around the clock, to get things ready," advised Jackie Thornton, as she consulted her "master list" and discussed details with various committee members and decorators. "It's time to put on this show!"

One of the major projects on tap for Thursday afternoon was the arrival of the vintage automobile that had to be moved into the foyer of the Civic Center. With new tile on the floor, carpet pads had to be laid down for the automobile to come into the building and then additional absorbent pads had to be applied to the floor beneath the vintage automobile. The process took about and hour, Thursday afternoon.

Meanwhile, the stage was being constructed for the band, in the exhibit hall and floral selections were arriving in huge numbers.

In the auditorium foyer, other workers were actively getting the curtains and tables prepared for the Silent Auction area and in the main hall, others were working on getting photos applied to the five large screens to accommodate the Live Auction.

"It's great to have a wonderful committee, many of them veterans, to begin the process," advised Thornton. "These folks work and plan all year and were ready to begin getting things ready! It's going to be truly beautiful on Saturday night!"
