Genealogical Society to Host First Meeting
of Year, Thursday Night
by: Bobby McDonald
The Hopkins County Genealogical Society will "kick-off" their year, with their first monthly meeting, on Thursday night, January 17, 2013, with a 7:00 p.m. meeting in the Genealogical Library, on Main Street.
Several items of business need to be discussed and Thursday night's program will feature local genealogist, Marynell Bryant, who will offer a program on "Non-Technical DNA Testing for Use in Genealogical Research. Bryant stated that the program will be of interest to many people who are searching for genealogical lines, and she will show them how to easily use the DNA testing tool in possibly locating others in their family lines.

"We're definitely not going to get into any of the technical science, associated with DNA testing," denoted Bryant. "It will just be steps you can use in getting your own DNA into the data base and how this can link you to possible relatives that you haven't been able to find any other way!"
"It's just a tool to use, now that we have the science available now!" continued Bryant. "And, who knows you might 'get lucky' and connect with a 'long lost' cousin, through the science, and find a world of information about your family line!"
To hear the program, be sure and arrive at 7:00 p.m., on Thursday night!
