Hay Buckin' at the County Fair

It was the newest addition to the Hopkins County Fall Festival, the Hay Buckin' Contest. And, what better skill could a Hopkins County youth have, than to know how to haul hay? Especially, when we have so many beef cattle, dairy cattle, equine, and hay farms in Hopkins County?

However, the "round bale" has taken over as the preferred way to store hay, and many youth didn't know how to stack and haul hay!

Well, Saturday's Hay Buckin' Contest in the Civic Center arena, drew some interest, for a beginning to a contest that can prove to be something everyone can enjoy!

 

 

The competition was in the youth under 12 event, where we seem to be "growing" some future hay haulers!

 

 

Winners were:

 

1st - Savannah Allen and Makenna Morgan
2nd - Andy and Ethan Morrison
3rd - Savannah Allen and Jace Mayers
