Don't Let Diabetes Control You

So many times, people feel defeated when they hear the words, "You have diabetes."  Take heart - diabetes can be better controlled if you know the basics and take action.  To help equip individuals, the "Do Well, Be Well with Diabetes" series is being offered at low-cost.  The series covers several topics related to nutrition and blood glucose management.  Pharmacists, dietitians, and other experts in the field will provide the lessons.  Below is the schedule of dates and topics:

Tuesday, February 26

Thursday, February 28

Tuesday, March 5

Thursday, March 7

Tuesday, March 12

As you can see, the topics cover a variety of issues addressing just about any concern or question you might have.  Cost for the entire series is $20, payable at the first session.  All sessions will be held at the Hopkins County Extension Office (Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service), 1200-B W. Houston, Sulphur Springs (next door to the Southwest Dairy Museum).  Two times are being offered to accommodate schedules.  Please contact my office at 903-885-3443 and indicate whether you want to attend the 1:30 p.m. or the 6:00 p.m. sessions.

This is the only time Do Well, Be Well with Diabetes will be offered this year, so please take advantage of the opportunity.  A past participant made the following comment: "I learned so much and feel that I can now do well, be well with diabetes!"  Another indicated that her blood sugar has been under better control and her hemoglobin A1c dropped to the recommended level.  Don't let diabetes control you - YOU control your diabetes!
