High School Leadership
Announces Participants
For 2008-09

Increased interest in the High School Leadership Program, sponsored for senior students in Hopkins County, by the Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce, saw 78 applicants for the 45 places in this year's class. An anonymous, five member panel of judges reviewed the applications and selected the following members for the 2008-09 Class:

Cecily Adams, Eddie Arciga, Ben Barrows, Bailey Booher, Alyssa Burney, Baleigh Butler, Britney Cheathan, Kayla Chester, Brittani Crawford, MacKenzie Cross, Katie Dodd, Brandon Fain, Sarah Fox, Andy Ginn, Bonnie Grafton, Garrett Gray, Ross Hicks, Whitney Hu, Jace Jackson, Stephen Kramer, Brittany Lamphere, John Latham, Anna Longino, Kylie Lucas, Morgan Lutz, Richard McCroskey, Jamie McKinnon, Krista McMahan, John McSheffery, Jake Moreland, Sarah Nelson, Cammie Pingel, Alyssa Post, Kaitlyn Potts, Heath Robinson, Jake Russell, Dylan Rutherford, Kelsey Smith, Ayanna Smith, Cooper Welch, and Christopher White.

Four more students from the rural schools in Hopkins County will be added to the class, when all of the applications are received.

According to Meredith Caddell, Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce President, the class will begin with their traditional ropes chalenges course, in September. October will find them meeting with county law enforcement officers and touring the local jail facilities and November be devoted to poverty, crisis, and cultural sensitivity training. The January session is planned for educational opportunities and Februrary will be devoted to the popular ethical decision making session. A field trip will be taken for the last meeting of the year, when an out-of-town trip is planned.

The program, sponsored by the local Chamber of Commerce and community sponsors, is for high school seniors and is based on an application submitted by students interested in participating.
