Jewish Holocaust Survivors
Bring Message to Hopkins County
by: Bobby McDonald
It's a rare occasion for citizens of Hopkins County to meet a survivor of the WWII Jewis Holocaust, but the opportunity to visit with them and ask questions, will be available on Thursday, July 10th, 2008. The opportunity will unfold in Sulphur Springs Public Library, from 1:00 t0 3:00 p.m. That is when William and Rosalie Schiff, residents of Dallas, Texas, will be available, as they promote their book, published by Texas A&M Press, "William & Rosalie...A Holocaust Testimony."
This the gripping and heartfelt account of two young Jewish people from Poland, who survived six differnt German slave and concentration camps, throughout the Holocaust. In 1941, young newlyweds, William and Rosalie Schiff were forcibly separated and sent on their individual odysseys through a sureal maze of hate. Terror in the Krakow ghetto, sadistic SS death games, cruel human medical experiments, eyewitness accounts of brutal murders of men, women, children, and even infants, and the meanace of rape in occupied Poland, make their story an unusual and explicit view of the WWII Jewish horror.

William and Rosalie Schiff are now both in their eighties, live in Dallas, and devote themselves full time to teaching children the dangers of prejudice and hate. Their ongoing campaign is a heroic culmination of two lives scarred beyond belief, by racism. They have experienced the depth of evil and depravity, but nonetheless remain committed to the task of seeking to educated others against hatred.
"The Agony of the history of GENOCIDE is that
too often, groups and nations, find reasons
NOT To ACT!"
~Dallas Holocaust Museum~

"William and Rosalie model what is best about the human
spirit..." Alan L. Berger, Raddock Chair in Holocaust Studies.
