PARIS -- State Representative Mark Homer encourages voters to go to the polls on November 6, 2007 to vote on 16 proposed amendments to the Texas Constitution.  He announced that his office can provide voters with an informative summary of the proposed amendments to help them analyze the choices.

"The voters of Texas have the final say in amending our state constitution," said Rep. Homer.  "So, I want to give the voters every opportunity to understand the proposed amendments.  That way we can make the right decisions for the future of Texas."

Among other issues, proposed amendments could affect cancer research, higher education, property tax appraisals and home equity loans.

"I am pleased to offer a booklet, free of charge, which has analyses of the 16 proposed amendments.  This booklet provides a summary of each amendment, along with arguments for and against the amendment," explained Homer. "The booklet has been prepared by the Texas Legislative Council, which is a non-partisan legislative agency."

Rep. Homer said a copy of the booklet will be mailed to constituents who call his office.  Rep. Homer's District office may be reached by calling (903) 784-0977.  His Capitol office may be reached at (512) 463-0650.  Citizens should leave their name, mailing address and phone number should his office need to reach you.  Deadline to call for a booklet is October 31, 2007.

Alternatively, constituents can email Lindsay.Taylor@house.state.tx.us to receive the link to an online version of the booklet.

"A change to our state's constitution can last a long time," said Rep. Homer. "That's why it's important for voters know what they're being asked to vote on before they cast their ballot."
