"Let the Games Begin!"
Firemen's "Hot August Night" Event
Slated For Saturday
by: Bobby McDonald
Local Hopkins County Firefighters have planned their annual fundraiser, BBQ dinner, games, and concert event for Saturday, August 27th. And, certainly, with the local weather predictions it will be a "Hot August Night!" But, don't let that stop you from coming out and enjoying some great BBQ, fun, and music, as you support the local firefighters in this effort. "With the current drought conditions in Hopkins County, it's even more imperative that our local firefighters are adequately equipped and have the necessary equipment to fight fires," expressed one supporter. "They need our support and this is great way to help them with their needs, while enjoying a great time, on the Hopkins County Regional Civic Center grounds."
The "gates" will open at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, and will begin with a number of competition games, between the various local fire departments, including the "guns and hoses" competition, a "bucket brigade," and other games of skill, to see who is the top fire fighting unit!

Meanwhile, succulent BBQ will be cooking on grills all across the grounds, as community departments compete against each other for the top cooking prize, and you the "eater" will reap the rewards of their efforts. BBQ and all the trimmings will begin being served at 6:00 p.m., with live music being played from the soundstage for your enjoyment.

Sometime during the music concert, a drawing will be held for the "zero turn mower" that firefighters have been selling chances on for the last two months. You'll have an opportunity to purchase a ticket before the drawing and who knows, you just might be the lucky winner!
Make plans to support our local firefighters on Saturday, at the Hopkins County Civic Center!
