
The early Monday morning fire at this residence, at the corner of Carter and Sprite Streets, caused
extensive damage to the home, but no injuries were reported, as the occupant and a pet escaped.

A Sprite Street resident awoke to smoke and fire in his home, at the corner of Sprite and Carter Streets, early Monday morning and quickly called the Sulphur Springs Fire Department, who received the call at approximately 3:00 a.m.
The lone occupant of the residence and his pet dog were able to escape uninjured from the structure, that was engulfed in flames, when firemen arrived.
Heavy attic damage is scene in the home located on Sprite Street, that burned early Monday morning.

Firemen were on the scene until approximately 9:30 a.m., as they continued to pour water into the attic area, which was almost completely burned. Investigators determined that the cause of the fire was electrical, starting in the garage area of the home, and advancing to other areas of the structure. "The roof and attic of the home is completely destroyed and there is some 50% damage to the rest of the contents and structure, with heavy smoke and water damage to everything," expressed the fire investigator. "We've determined the fire was caused by an accidental electrical source in the garage region of the structure."
The lone occupant of the structure was attempting to gather clothes and other belongings, at 10:00 a.m., with plans to relocate with friends. "I awoke to the smell of smoke and quickly called the fire department!" expressed the resident.
