What's Happening With the Hwy-154 Project?

For most of us who travel Hwy-154 on a daily basis, the question is "Why isn't the project being completed in the construction zone?"

Well, to get the "straight" answer to the question, I consulted TxDOT and was referred to the Paris District Office.

In speaking with Assistant Engineer Chris Mountain, I learned that the project was actually completed much faster than anticipated, with all of the great construction weather that was afforded during the winter months, and that all that is lacked on the project is applying the asphalt to the roadway. However, the temperatures must be at a certain level before the asphalt can be applied. "We're just waiting on the temperatures to rise enough for us to apply the asphalt and the project will be complete," advised Mountain. "We ask that everyone be patient and the application is scheduled for the middle of April, if the weather cooperates!"

"I know everyone is wanting the project completed, and it looks like we're not doing anything, but we're just as ready to apply the asphalt as anyone else is, and we're ready to complete the project, too!" continued Chris. "We'ver just got to wait on 'Mother Nature' and the temperatures to rise enough to complete the project. And, fortunately with the unseasonably warm temperatures we're experiencing this year, we can hopefully make the applications in about 10 days!"
