Most of us know them as local educators, veterinarians, and by various other business trades. However, when they get together in a blend of voices and music, they are known as Jeanne Lay and The Loose Cannon, producing a unique sound of favorite songs, that includes country, rock, and soul!

We "caught up" with them on Tuesday night at a jam and practice session in Sulphur Springs and heard the unique blend of their music that includes a number of great numbers that will be on Thursday night's playlist. Look for a great performance of approximately 25 songs featured in their segment of this weekend's Music Festival in Downtown Sulphur Springs. They will be on stage, live from 9:00 to 11:00 on Thursday night.

"We've been playing together for about a year," expressed Jeanne Lay, Commerce Principal and Lead Singer of the Group. "We all have performed separately and some of us together, for years, but came together as friends and as a group, a little over a year ago, and have created a unique sound, that people seem to enjoy!"

The group includes: Jeanne Lay, Jeannie Ward, Binky Hodges, Chuck Lay, Shem Ray, Jay Broyles, Mark Morris and Kenneth Chapin, as they blend a variety of banjo, mandolin, guitar, drums, and other instruments, to bring a great sound!

As Jeanne Lay broke out into "Take Me Down to the Little White Church," the band joined in to captivate those listening to the jam session. "We all enjoy playing together and switching instruments for particular songs," advised Chuck Lay, local veterinarian. "Some of us play bass on one song, and may pick-up the mandolin for the next song, and then switch back to the guitar! That's what keeps it all fun and interesting!"

Make plans to join Jeanne Lay and The Loose Cannon, on Thursday night, for some super entertainment, on the downtown square in Sulphur Springs, where you'll be treated with a great night of music!
