Sims - The North Hopkins Lady Panthers fell to James Bowie 34-28 Wednesday night to fall to 2-5 in District 16A action. The Lady Pirates came out holding the ball and the slow first half ended with Bowie up 9-7.
The teams traded buckets in the third quarter and the game was tied at 17-17 going into the final stanza. With the score tied at 28-28 with two minutes to go, the Lady Panthers had three key turnovers that cost them down the stretch.
"We fought hard, but you just can't make mistakes late in the game and put them on the line," Coach Larry Tucker said. "Chelsey Crouch and Madison Wenrick did a good job offensively for us and our team defense was good."
Crouch led the team with 14 points while Wenrick hit two three-point shots scoring a total of eight points.
The Lady Panthers will host Honey Grove Friday. The JV girls will start the evening with a 4:30pm game followed by the boy's JV, varsity girls and varsity boys.
