Appreciation Cookout

"The steaks were great and the fellowship was wonderful," was one local law enforcement officer's description of Friday night's 14th Annual Law Enfocement Appreciation Cookout. The annual event is hosted by the Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce and funded by local businesses to show appreciation for the protection that is provied by Hopkins County Law Enforcement.

The event was hosted at the home of Billy Sam and Rickie Elliott and chief cook was Jim McLeroy. Over 120 local law enforcement personnel, fire service personnel and EMS members attended the event.

Texas Ranger Phillip Kemp was presented an appreciation award by the Hopkins County Sheriff's Department, for his aid and assistance in their investigative department. The award was presented by Sheriff's Investigator Lewis Tatum.

"It's just a way of saying 'thank you' and letting the local law enforcement and emergency responders know that we appreciate the job that they do in Hopkins County," expressed Elliott. "We depend on all of them when a crisis arises here in Hopkins County and many times they go unappreciated for the services that they do. We want them to know they truly are appreciated!"
