those in attendance at the Lights of Life Tree Lighting.

A large crowd of supporters were in attendance at the 17th Annual Lights of Life Tree Lighting Ceremony, hosted at The Gardens of Hopkins County Memorial Hospital, on Tuesday evening. Jackie Thornton, Hospital Foundation Director, welcomed the crowd and Mrs. Wanda Galyean Foundation Chair-elect, provided brief remarks and offered a prayer. Michael McAndrew HCMH CEO  brought brief remarks and the group was entertained with a number of selections by the SSHS Stage Band. Other entertainment was provided by the First Baptist Church Youth Choir and the Memorial Hospital Doctors and Staff Choir.

Arvis and Sheila Tanton, 2012-13 Gala Chairs gave an update on the 2013 Gala, planned for January, that is already "sold-out." And, briefed the crowd on the 2012-13 Lights of Life Campaign.

Suddenly, an ambulance came flashing down the emergency drive, and that jolly old man in a red suit and white beard, appeared to the delight of the children. He aided the Tantons in lighting the Christmas tree and then took special requests from the line of children, from a large red throne, provided by the Christmas tree.

Hot chocolate and cookies were served by the Hospital Auxiliary.

Designated for this year's Lights of Life Campaign Fund is a Five Philip Monitoring System for the hospital that will be place in patient rooms on the 2nd floor of the hospital.

What traditionally is one of the coldest nights in Sulphur Springs proved to be a pleasant and enjoyable evening, on Tuesday night.
