With the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, it's hard to believe that it is only about six weeks until the annual Lights of Life Gala, that always proves to be the highlight of January in Hopkins County. But, yes it is fast approaching and the planning or organizing committee met on Wednesday for an update on all of the various committee's work and making some final details.

Jackie Thornton, Hospital Foundation Director, reported to the committee that the Gala event is sold out and has a waiting list of 59 people, for the January 26, 2013 event.

The Lights of Life Calendar Committee reported that also sponsors were sold and that calendars are available at SS Floral, Town & Country Cleaners, Main Street Pocket Shoppes, the Chamber of Commerce, Alliance Bank, City National Bank, and Guaranty Bond Bank, or from any calendar committee member. "These make ideal Christmas gifts for those people that have everything," expressed Lisa Toliver. "They feature photos from all across Hopkins County for you to enjoy all year!"

Arvis Tanton updated the group on the "Fly Your Flag Fundraiser." He reported a profit of $2550.00 and thanked Pam Sellers for a great job of providing entertainment for everyone at the event on the square, with Zumba Dancers and Lonnie Fox as the D.J.

Linda Galligher reported that her Silent Auction Committee was still collecting over $15,000.00 in items for that section of the Gala. And, the Live Auction Committee has already received over their $25,000.00 in items and are now soliciting buyers who want to bid on the items.

"Think Calla Lillies!" exclaimed Decorator Kent Smith, as he presented the Gala
Committee with a "peek" at the way the 2013 Gala will be decorated to complete
the "Vintage Hollywood " theme.

Highlight of Wednesday's meeting was the presentation by Eddie Dean Foods of Menu items for this year's gala event. Committee members tasted an array of food, including appetizers, salads, breads, entrees, and desserts, as they evaluated each item to be included on the Gala menu.

"I like it all!" declared Arvis Tanton, following the delicious taste test!

"I think everyone will love the selected menu and there will certainly be some unique items and 'surprises' for the taste palate," expressed Jackie Thornton. "It's going to be a superb meal!"

Of course, this year's theme is "Vintage Hollywood" and decorator, Kent Smith, completed the meeting by giving the group a "peek" at what the tables and room will look like! "You'll just have to wait and see for the final effect," expressed decorating chair, Donna Rudzik!"
