FIFTH ANNUAL SULPHUR SPRINGS LIONS CLUB

CHRISTMAS LIGHT PARADE PRESENTED BY DUNCAN DISPOSAL

Sulphur Springs --  As the season of giving approaches, the Sulphur Springs Lions are making plans for their Christmas Light Parade.

The Fifth Annual Sulphur Springs Lions Club Christmas Light Parade will be held in downtown Sulphur Springs on the evening of December 1st.  As the city lights go out, the parade entries, which are required to be lit up with working Christmas lights, will bring Christmas cheer to those lining the parade route.

For the third year in a row the Sulphur Springs Lions Club has teamed up with Blue Santa, a local charity that provide toys and gifts to needy children in Hopkins County.  “We enjoy putting this parade on every year,” stated Garrett Glass, Lions Club President.  “It gets the whole town in the Christmas spirit, with the lights, music, and of course Santa. Also, we are able to give back to those less fortunate by collecting toys along the parade route.”

This year, entries will be judged in two categories, small business/commercial (25 employees or less) and non-profit entries.  Cash awards will be given in each category, $1,000 for 1st, $500 for 2nd, and $250 for 3rd.  Cash prizes totaling $1,000 will be given to Elementary school entries and a traveling trophy will be presented to the best large business (26 employees or more).  A plaque will also be awarded to the winner of the prestigious Mayor’s Choice Award.

The Lions Club would like to give a special thanks to Duncan Disposal/Republic Waste, the Title Sponsor, and to Carriage House Manor, the Presenting Sponsor, City National Bank and FEC Electric, Partnering Sponsors, and Alliance Bank, the Accommodating Sponsor, for their support and sponsorship of the parade.
