Are you tired of sitting in the house and looking at the four walls? Has the winter weather about got you down? Well, a perfect diversion from all of this is an exciting trip to Jefferson, Texas, where they will play host to this year's Mardi Gras Up River, February 5-7th!

With colorful parades, authentic cajun dishes, shopping, and a little bit of "bead throwing," Jefferson is a great weekend destination. There's bookstores, antique shopping, and eclectic places to eat and drink. Last year, I ate a Kitt's Kornbread Sandwich, with fried bologna and cheese, that proved to be all you'd want and then some! It kind of got you in the mood to throw some beads!

Of course, the small town atmosphere of Jefferson offers a much less crowded Mardi Gras celebration, than the one in New Orleans, and it's "right here in our own backyard!"

Get your friends and head down to Jefferson for a weekend of fun, that's sure to beat those winter blues!
