

Northeast Texas Cattleman’s Conference: January 30, 2013

January has been traditional a cattle month. With most of our winter crops growing and our summer crop waiting for the end of the frost, January has been for the extension office in Hopkins County when most of the question related to feeding, hay and intoxications occurred. Also, we schedule our traditional training with cattle topics for January. This year, the Northeast Texas Cattleman’s Conference is scheduled for January 30 from 8:00 to 2:30 pm at the Winnsboro City Auditorium. The conference has 4 CEU for TDA private applicators (2 hrs general/ 1 hrs IPM/ 1 hrs Laws and Regulations) with a cost of $15 lunch included. This year, the conference will have the support of NETBIO to maintain cost low. This is a great time for cattle producers to learn about new herbicides, fly control , how to manage replacement heifers and feral hog control. Several extension specialist from Overton Texas will make the trip to Winnsboro City Auditorium to provide technical information and visit with producers. The conference is organized by Texas A&M Agrilife Extension Services in Wood, Camp, Rain, Titus, Upshur, Delta, Franklin and Van Zandt Counties. Lunch is included on registration. Upcoming events: Pesticide Applicator Training, February 13, 2013 at the Hopkins County Extension Office, located at 1200B Houston Street in Sulphur Springs, Organized by Hopkins and Rains Counties. Cost $15.00 no lunch included. If you need a private applicator license to purchase and apply restricted herbicides and insecticides this is your opportunity to get the TDA training and exam in the same place.
