Win 2013 Market Broiler Show

Judge Frankie Norwood of Cunningham, Texas, had the daunting task of selecting the best pen of three chickens from over 70 pens that were entered in Friday morning's 2013 NETLA Market Broiler Show. 4-H and FFA students had secured twenty-five chicks back in early January and fed and cared for them until the show, hoping to have the Champion pens.

"It all depends on the student that goes out and spends lots of time and tender-loving care, in the chicken pen," advised Norwood, as he sifted through the pens of chickens. "I'm ultimately looking for the most uniform pen of three birds, that has the most amount of 'chicken tenders' on their carcass!"

And, when the "feathers" fell, it was a pair of brothers, members of the Sulphur Springs FFA, that had done the best job. Quinton Joslin won the Grand Champion honors and his brother, Hayden showed the Reserve Grand Champion pen of broilers.
