Music, Music, and More Music......
by: Bobby McDonald
Regardless of your taste in music, a "treat" awaits you in the next week, in Hopkins County. Almost every day there is a concert featured here in Sulphur Springs. The fun begins with a free concert on the Downtown Square, Thursday night, September 6th, when "Beatlegras," that is described as "the music of 'The Fab Four' shaken-up with infusions of bluegrass and jazz and topped off with a classical twist!"

"This isn't the same ol' Beatles Band!" states Dave Walser, founder of the innovative group.
The free concert, sponsored by the Downtown Business Alliance and The Sulphur Springs Department of Tourism, will begin at 7:30 p.m., Thursday night, to "kick-off" the week of music in Sulphur Springs. Restaurants in the Downtown area of Sulphur Springs will be staying open and shops will be open for your shopping pleasure. Concert goers are asked to bring their lawn chairs and enjoy a wonderful night of music!

But, the music doesn't stop there. Gospel Singing will begin at 3:00 p.m., on Saturday, September 8th, in the Hopkins County Regional Civic Center Auditorium, when the 27th Annual Fall Festival Songfest will get underway. Ina Gore, a member of the Fall Festival Board and a Gospel Performer herself, encourages everyone to come out and enjoy this traditional favorite of Fall Festival Week. "You're sure to enjoy the great gospel music and it will be air conditioned in the Civic Center, following a morning of watching the Fall Festival Parade, attending the Trades Day Booths, and other Fall Festival Activities!"
