Sommer Gregory Crowned
2007-08 Fall Festival Cover Girl

by: Bobby McDonald

It had been a week of intense activities, as 2007 Cover Girl contestants had cut-up chickens, saddled a horse, rode in parades, and milked a cow, just to name a few of the activities. The seven young ladies had served as ambassadors, as they met and greeted exhibitors and given directions to visitors on Friday and Saturday. However, the highlight of the contest was the awards ceremony that was slated following the Stew Contest.

Sommer Gregory, sixteen year old daughter of Cephus and Marta Gregory, of Sulphur Springs, was crowned the new 2007-08 Cover Girl, after accumulating the most points in the contest. She is a junior student at Sulphur Springs High School. Gregory was also voted "Miss Congeniality" in the contest, by her fellow contestants. Gregory receives a $750.00 Scholarship, a $100.00 Visa Gift Card, and a $50.00 Savings Bond from Guaranty Bond Bank.

2006-07 Cover Girl Helena Wall thanks Hopkins County for being allowed to represent them
for the past year and wishes all of the 2007 Candidates "good luck," before the crowning of
the new Cover Girl.

First Runner-Up was Kayla Williams, a junior student at North Hopkins High School, who will assume the duties of the crown, should Miss Gregory not be able to complete the duties. Kayla received a $500.00 College Scholarship, a $75.00 gift card, and a $50.00 Savings Bond from Guaranty Bond Bank.

Second Runner-Up was Shelby Blezinger, a junior student at Sulphur Springs High School. She received a $25.00 gift card and a $50.00 Savings Bond from Guaranty Bond Bank.

Kayla Williams received a $25.00 gift card for her first place Parade Conveyance, while Shelby Blezinger received the top prize in the Window Display and in the Ticket Sales Competition, for selling 511 tickets.

Watch for Sommer Gregory at a number of ribbon cuttings, throughout the next year, as she represents the Hopkins County Fall Festival in a variety of activities, while she serves as ambassador for the county.

Congratulations Sommer,
and All of the Cover Girl Contestants
on a Great 2007 Contest!!!
