Friends, family, and associates gathered on Monday evening to honor retiring District Judge Robert Newsom and his wife, Robbie, for their 16 years of service to Hopkins County and the 8th Judicial District. Newsom will step-down on December 31st from what he calls "one of the most rewarding times of his life." "I've enjoyed serving the people of this district and attempting to make it a safe place for all of us to raise our families, live, work and enjoy life," reflected Newsom.

And, always a person who has upheld giving back to his community Newsom says he isn't planning on going home and "sitting down." Who knows we might find him as a "budding actor," after his performance in this past weekend's White Christmas. Hollywood may be "knocking at this door" at any time?

Both Newsom and his wife, Robbie, are natives of Hopkins County and plan to continue to live and serve in the community, but want to spend more time with their grandchildren and explore other aspects of their lives.

"Each of us have a responsibility to do our part in making this a great place to live," remarked Newsom. "Robbie and I will continue to support Hopkins County and lend our help in making this the great community it is to live in, just in a different capacity!"

Congratulations to Robert and Robbie on this momentous occasion in their lives!
