The North Hopkins Junior High Boys A team won the district tournament after going through the regular district season undefeated.

JH Panthers Win District Championship

 



The North Hopkins Junior High Boys "A" team won the district championship tournament with a 36-29 win over Cumby Saturday at Saltillo after defeating Yantis in the semi-final round earlier that morning.


The team swept through the district schedule undefeated and finished the year with an overall 14-2 record.


Coach Garrett Todd's young Panthers defeated Yantis 53-21in the semi-final round. Led by the balanced scoring with Austin Oldham and Nathan Olavide each with 14, Alfredo Orozco 12 and two from C.J. Skeen.


In the final, Orozco blistered the nets for 17 points. Oldham added seven, Kee Dunn five, Olavide four and Condo three. The Panthers were down 18-17 at the half but outscored the Trojans 19-11 in the second half to secure the win.

 

 

 


"I am very proud of these young men. They have worked very hard this year and it has paid off," Coach Todd said. "They got here early in the morning, made the grades and always hustled. We have a great future coming at North Hopkins."
