Over Cumby Trojans, Tuesday Night

Cumby - The North Hopkins Panthers outlasted a game Cumby Trojan team pulling away in the second half to record a 56-41 District 18-A win. The victory raised the Panthers to 4-2 in district play, tied with Fruitvale for second place behind 6-0 Yantis.
Sophomores Silas Whaley and Blake Adams led the offensive charge for North Hopkins with 13 and 12 points respectively. Adams hit 10 of his points in the final quarter.
It was another night of good defense for the Panthers.
"We got off to a slow start but our defense never let up and starting forcing turnovers," Coach Cl;ay Pirtle said. "The guys just keep working hard and it is paying off for us."
After leading 11-8 after one period, the Panthers had a slim 21-17 lead at intermission and then outscored the Trojans 35-24 in the second half.
The Panthers travel to Yantis Friday for a big game against the Owls.
