Weekend Oil Belt Cutting Was
A "Heated" Competition in Civic Center

It was some "heated" competition in the Hopkins County Regional Civic Center as the monthly Oil Belt Cutting competition came to town, on Saturday. The monthly events featured in the Hopkins County Regional Civic Center bring competitors from all across the U.S. to our community, as they spend money, stay in our hotels, and compete for prizes in the competitions.
One of the particular classes, on Saturday, the Non-Pro Classic, demonstrates the depth of the competition. The class featured eight horses and the scores ranged from a high of 74 to a "no-score" for missing the cut, but only one-point separated the top five competitors in the event. And, those competitors came from Texarkana, Ft. Worth, Greenville, Henderson, and from right here in Sulphur Springs. Other weekend competitors traveled from both Tennessee and Illinois, to exhibit their horses.
