Owens Country Sausage Breaks Ground
For Expansion Project

by: Bobby McDonald

It was appropriate that local business leaders joined Owens Country Sausage, Inc. personnel for a sausage breakfast on Monday morning, as they unveiled a new expansion project at their plant in Sulphur Springs. The plans call for a 50,000 square foot addition to their facilities, located on East Industrial Drive, with a target completion date of Summer 2009.

An appropriate sausage breakfast was served to those attending Monday's ceremonies, catered by
Judy's Kitchen.

The expansion project at the local facility will increase the employment at the plant by approximately 60 workers at the present time and an additional sixty more workers, when the new facilities are completed. "It's great to see a local business expand and need additional local workers from our area," exclaimed Carl Bryan, with the local Economic Development Corporation. "These additional workers at this existing business will have the net effect of a small company moving to Hopkins County, so naturally we're really excited about this expansion!"

"Anytime one of our local corporations expands, it is a great asset to our entire commuinty," expressed Sulphur Springs Mayor, Oscar Aguilar. "It adds jobs to our economy and strengthens our entire community!"

Watch for construction to begin immediately on the expanded facility, following Monday's token ground breaking ceremony.
