Texas will be jumpin’ with the Colby Yates Challenge
SULPHUR SPRINGS, Texas – Some of the greatest cowboys in the Professional Bull Riders association will test their skills against some of the baddest bulls in the sport Aug. 15-16.
Colby Yates welcomed everyone to Sulphur Springs and the upcoming Lone Star Dodge
Colby Yates Bull Riding Challenge.
The Lone Star Dodge Colby Yates Challenge presented by Priefert Ranch Equipment and Choctaw Casino & Reesort will ignite the Hopkins County Regional Civic Center beginning at 7:30 p.m. each night, when you'll see bull-riding superstars like Colby Yates, Matt Austin, Cord McCoy and a host of other top competitors for the PBR Enterprise Tour event.
But it’s more than a PBR event. It’s also where some of the up-and-coming bucking stars will be part of the competition in the American Bucking Bull Inc. Classic, which features 3- and 4-year-old athletic bulls showing off their talents.
And to add to the excitement of the triple-threat evening is the Professional Bullfighters’ Daisy Protection Bullfight Tour. Five teams of bullfighters not only will jump in the fray to save the lives of the bull riders involved in the PBR event, but they will also be competing against one another all the while trying to obtain the top scores from a group of professional bullfighters who are assigned to judge their talents.
Rains County Professional Bull Breeder, Donny Gowin, owner of Superior
Genetic in Emory, told everyone about the quality of the bulls that will be
featured in the upcoming Sulphur Springs Challenge.
The event will also feature some of the up-and-coming stars in professional bull riding. It's where history meets the future. It's where cowboys will attempt to conquer ferocious bucking beats. It's where thunder claps, as the nearly 2,000-pound bulls hurl their athletic bodies all over the arena in an effort to rid themselves of some best bull riders in the sport.
North Texas has become quite a home to bull riding's biggest stars, from bucking animals out of the great bull Bodacious to cowboys like Yates, Austin, Mike White, Jason Bennett and an entire cast of regulars on the PBR's premier tour.
The PBR experience has exploded over the past 15 years. The association was developed by the top bull riders traveling the circuit in the early 1990s and originally featured a couple of dozen events each season. Now hundreds of events take place worldwide.

Professional Bullfighter, Jay Brewer, told everyone about the level of competition that will be hosted
between the professional bullfighters, during the upcoming Sulphur Springs Challenge.
What makes Sulphur Springs special is its location to so many of the top athletes in the sport. It's also a way for the best cowboys to secure their spots in the PBR World Finals, which take place over two weeks at the end of October and beginning of November. The top 45 cowboys with money won on any level qualify for the championship, so dollars won in this Sulphur Springs are even more valuable.
Vegas also hosts the ABBI World Finals, and bull owners are still trying to qualify their animals for a chance at hundreds of thousands of dollars at the premier event for young bulls.
