Young Farmer Pig and Calf Scramble
Feature of Tuesday Night's
Fall Festival

It was chasing pigs and calves that dominated the activities of the Hopkins County Fall Festival, on Tuesday night, a chance for the "little folks" to participate. Children under the age of nine years old competed in two categories of the Pig Scramble. Age groups for 6 and Under, and 7-8 years were afforded, with "lots of action," as they chased the pigs around the arena, attempting to retrieve the piece of duct tape on their backs.

Winners in the 6 and Under Division include: first place, Branson Thomas, 2nd place, Coeby Purser, and 3rd place, Noah Hemby. Ashley Purser bested the other to win the 7-8 year old Division and second place was Precious Williams. Third place finisher was Gage Pogue.

And, it was a Calf Scramble for the youth nine years and older. In the 9-10 year old category, it was Abby Darden that took first place honors, by crossing the finish line first. Second place was awarded to Clancey Horton, and a tie existed between twins Bradley and Brian Caudle, who shared the prize plaque.

Winning run......Abby Darden shows the form that won her the prize in the 9-10

Winners in the 9-10 year old Calf Scramble were left to right, Abby Darden, Clancy Horton,
and Bradley and Brian Caudle.
And, in the 11-12 year old Calf Scramble, it was sisters Tiffney and Courtney Goldsmith, that
bested Hayden Smith for the top prizes!!!!
In the 11-12 year old Calf Scramble, it was Hayden Smith, who let the girls beat him for the prize. Sisters Tiffney Goldsmith and Courtney Goldsmith, won first and second place, respectively, and Hayden Smith took the third prize.
The Pig and Calf Scrambles are a fun event of the annual Fall Festival and have been hosted for the past 30 years, by the Sulphur Springs Young Farmers Chapter.
Action was "swift" in the pig and calf scrambles, on Tuesday night!!!
