New Paris Junior College Board of Regents President Selected

After newly elected regents Curtis Fendley and Ginna Walker-Bowman and re-elected regent Ann Wyche were sworn in Tuesday evening, the Paris Junior College Board of Regents selected Fendley as the new President. The board also voted to retain Louise Taylor as Vice President and Berdie Gibson as Secretary.

Prior to the vote, Taylor read a letter from former President Paul Gene Roden, expressing his appreciation for the opportunity to serve and his continued support for PJC's student, faculty and staff, and regents.

"I appreciate the vote of confidence and look forward to working with the board in the next few years and of course the administration," Fendley said after the vote.

In other business, the regents:

• Received a report from Vice President of Business Services John Eastman, who said PJC is in good shape, that it has been a solid year.
• Approved the Audit Engagement letter for McClanahan and Holmes to conduct the annual audit of PJC finances.
• Approved changes to the Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy.
• Added the terms bath salts and K-2 (synthetic marijuana) to PJC's Alcohol and Drug policy.
• Approved changes to the PJC Policy Manual provided annually by the Texas Association of School Boards Policy Manual Service, reflecting changes approved in the last Legislative session.
• Set a date of July 19 for the budget workshop.
• Authorized PJC President Pam Anglin to negotiate the sale of a parking lot in downtown Paris for approved value.
