
PJC Announces Continuing Ed
Course For May
From PJC
Paris Junior College's Continuing Education Department has scheduled a variety of courses for the month of May, according to Dr. Charles George, Associate Dean of Workforce Training and Continuing Education. Unless otherwise noted, classes are held in the Bobby R. Walters Workforce Training Center on the north side of the PJC campus.
Computer
A Microsoft Excel Intermediate 2010 class will offer advanced techniques to analyze data, enhance charts and automate worksheet tasks. The morning class will be held from 9 a.m. to noon, each Tuesday and Thursday, May 8-17. An evening class will meet from 6-9 p.m. each Monday, May 14 to June 11.
Driving
The Driver's Education class will be held Monday through Thursday, 4-6 p.m., May 14 through June 11. It is open to students at least 15 years of age.
Defensive Driving is offered in accordance with standards established by the National Traffic Safety Institute of Texas, Inc. The class meets from 6-9 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, May 21-22.
Professional Truck Driver I and II is offered on an as needed basis. Call 903-782-0447 to schedule.
Health Care/Medical
The Basic Life Support (CPR) class will be offered six times during May to accommodate participants. Choose from the following schedule:
5:30-9 p.m., Wednesday/Thursday, May 2-3
8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Saturday, May 5
5:30-9 p.m., Wednesday/Thursday, May 9-10
8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Saturday, May 12
5:30-9 p.m., Wednesday/Thursday, May 16-17
5:30-9 p.m., Tuesday/Wednesday, May 22-23
The Basic Life Support (CPR) Recertification for Health Professionals will be held from 5:30-9 p.m. on Monday, May 7. It will be offered again from 5:30-9:30 p.m. on Monday, May 14.

The Medication Aide Update will meet from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 29. Certified Med Aides should take this class one month before their card expires.
The NCLEX-PN review and updated for vocational nurses will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, May 14-15. This class meets continuing education requirements associated with professional licensure or certification.
The NCLEX-RN review is an accelerated course to help students pass their state board exam. The class will meet from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, May 16-18.
Parenting
The Kids Hurt Too seminar will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 12. This seminar is designed to help parents understand the needs of their children throughout the process of divorce.
Genealogy
Where are Your Roots? will be offered from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 19 at the Genealogy Library, 1125 Bonham Street.
