PJC Announces August
Continuing Ed at Paris Campus

The Continuing Education Department at Paris Junior College has scheduled a variety of classes for the August, according to John Spradling, Vice President of Workforce Education.

The classes meet at the Bobby Walters Workforce Training Center unless noted otherwise.

Computer
Welcome to the World of Computers will be offered from 6-8 p.m., each Thursday, August 2-23. This course is designed for the person who has very limited, if any, computer training.

Driving
The Defensive Driving class will meet from 6-9 p.m., each Monday and Tuesday, August 20-21. This course is offered in accordance with standards established by the National Traffic Safety Institute of Texas, Inc., and consists of six hours of classroom instruction.

 

 

 

 



Health
An Initial Basic Life Support class is scheduled from 5:30-9 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, August 1-2. It will be repeated from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday, August 17. This class offers instruction in the two rescuer approach to the adult and child victim.

The Basic Life Support Recertification class will be held from 5:30-9:30 p.m. on Monday, August 6. It will be repeated from 8 a.m. to noon on Friday, August 24. This is an update and review for current CPR certified card holders. Written examination and successful demonstration of skills is required. This course is certified by the American Heart Association.

A Medication Aide Update will be offered from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, August 23. This course is fulfillment of the annual education renewal requirements for the certified medication aide.

 

 

 



Parenting
The Kids Hurt Too seminar to help parents understand their children's needs throughout the process of divorce will be held from 6-9 p.m. on Tuesday, August 7.

Genealogy
The Beginning Genealogy: Where Are Your Roots? class is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, August 18. This class will meet at the Lamar County Genealogy Library located at 1125 Bonham Street.

Business
Human Resource Training: Back to the Basics will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, August 9. Topics will include finding, hiring and orienting new employees; managing employee relations issues and handling investigations; and a guide for what paperwork to keep, where to keep it, and for how long.
