October Continuing Ed Courses

Paris Junior College Sulphur Springs Center will offer a selection of computer and healthcare continuing education classes during the month of October. The classes will be held at the Center, 1202 West Houston.
The Microsoft Word Essentials word processing class will meet from 8 a.m. to noon, each Friday, Oct. 5-12.
This program offers instruction in creating a variety of professional looking documents. Topics will include creating, saving and opening documents; editing documents; the cut/paste and find/replace functions; formatting text, paragraphs, entire documents; and creating and formatting tables.
Welcome to the World of Computers will be held from 8 a.m. to noon, each Friday, Oct. 26 to Nov. 2. This class is designed for the person who has very limited, if any, computer training. Participants will learn basic computer tasks using the Windows program; proper mouse and keyboard use; and how to navigate the Internet, use social networking; and E-mail.


Basic Life Support Re-certification is an update and review for current CPR certified cardholders. The session will meet from 5:30-9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 10. Written examination and successful demonstration of skills is required for successful completion. The American Heart Association certifies this course.
A Pharmacy Technician class is scheduled from 6-9:30 p.m., each Monday and Wednesday, Oct. 15 to Dec. 5.
This comprehensive course prepares students to enter the pharmacy field and to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board PTCBX exam.
Course content includes medical terminology specific to the pharmacy, reading and interpreting prescriptions and defining drugs by generic and brand names. Students will learn dosage calculations, I.V. flow rates, drug compounding, dose conversions, dispensing of prescriptions, inventory control and billing and reimbursement.
