Propane Fuels 8th Annual Dairy Aires Balloon Rally

Press Release from Propane Council of Texas

Sulphur Springs, TX  (June 11, 2009) Propane is not only fuel that used to run your daddy’s tractor, but it is the fuel of choice for hot air balloonists. Hot air balloonists depend on propane to heat the air within the envelope of the balloon. The heat gives it the lift it needs to take flight. Thousands of ballooning events, like the 8th Annual Dairy Aires Balloon Rally this weekend on June 12-14, 2008 in Sulphur Springs, are made possible each year by propane since it is the fuel of choice for hot air balloonists.  The hot air balloon rally is an integral part of this year’s 50th Hopkins County Dairy Festival.

The Propane Council of Texas(PCOT)  with its Propane Exceptional Energy Hot Air Balloon will be one of several hot air balloons to take to the skies this weekend.  The Propane Council is non-profit dedicated to educating consumers about propane.  We are participating as a collaborative effort with the local propane industry to promote, propane, a clean, reliable and efficient energy source on farm everything from an environmentally-friendly alternative to gasoline for your pick ups to ag applications. In recent years, PCOT’s national organization, the Propane Education & Research Council (PERC) has researched the use of propane in dairy farms as a way to reduce mastitis causing pathogens that hinder milk production in cows.  Research is still being conducted, but participation  in events like these really showcases propane’s true attributes and it’s potential on the farm.

Come find out what makes hot air balloons work, propane’s important role in hot air ballooning, or just come enjoy the beautiful, picturesque sky filled will hot air balloons by coming out to the Dairy Airs Balloon Rally on June 12-14, 2008.
