Beware!!!
The Purse Snatchers

News Release From Sulphur Springs
Police Department

A recent warning from the Sulphur Springs Police Department is to make everyone aware that a group of "purse snatchers" are operating in our community. How many of you leave your purse in your parked vehicle and go into a store or business in town?

On Monday night, June 2nd, thieves enterd the Chili's parking lot, at the corner of Broadway and Shannon Road, and broke into vehicles stealing the purses left in the automobiles.

Then, last night, June 12th, what is supposed as the same group of individuals, broke into vehicles parked at the Movie Cinema in Sulphur Springs, stealing purses from the automobiles. When owners of the purses began to contact their credit card companies, they learned that they were already being used in Tyler, Texas.

"It's unfortunate that crime seems to increase in the summertime," expressed a local Police Department spokesperson. "We just want to warn everyone that this group of thieves are opperating in our community and encourage everyone to remove their valuable when parking. We don't want anyone to be a victim, if we can help it!"

"There's nothing any more troubling than to have to contact all of the people at the banks, credit card companies, and other vendors, when your purse is stolen," expressed a victim of a recent "purse snatching." "You feel violated and it only takes a few seconds to take your purse with you, when it takes hours and months to get your finances back in order, after such an incidence!"

Be aware of this crime occuring in our community and make certain that you protect yourself!!!

Be safe, this summer!!!!
