It was a group of vintage Railcar enthusiasts from all across the U.S. that made a stop on Sunday morning, and again on Sunday afternoon, as they participated in an East Texas tour that began in Greenville. The participants in the RailRoad Partners Inc. Motorcar Run, left Greenville at approximately 8:30 a.m. on Sunday and arrived for a "pit stop" in Sulphur Springs mid-morning. Then, it was on to Mt. Vernon for lunch and shopping tour, and they made another stop on the return trip to Greenville, Sunday afternoon. The group traveled on the Blackland Railroad line.

The railcars are the motorized version of the old "hand cars" that railroad workers used in tending to needs along railroads. According to the owners, who were from as far away as Iowa, they are much easier to operate than the old-time hand pump cars. "It don't take near as much effort!" exclaimed one owner. "We can travel with ease and enjoy the sights along the railway!"

Tours are scheduled all across the U.S. and enthusiasts of the cars take their car and make the scenic rides into small towns, quaint places, and unique destinations.

"The scenery along the Blackland route is very beautiful and reminiscent of what rail travelers saw when railroads were the chief means of long-distance transportation in this country!"
