Holiday Crash in Red River County
Kills 8

ANNONA, Texas — Texas authorities say eight people, including a mother and her three children, have been killed in a fiery, two-vehicle crash in Northeast Texas.

Trooper Sylvia Jennings with the Texas Department of Public Safety says a car traveling eastbound on U.S. 82 near the town of Annona, in Red River County, Texas crossed the center line and struck a westbound car driven by Sonia de la Torre of Annona.  She and her 8-year-old daughter Erica, 6-year-old son Saul Jr. and 10-month-old son Eric all died.

Curtis Derelle Sanders, Michael Mathis, and Lawrence Bridnac,III, all of Compton, Calif., and Debra Thompson, of Compton, California, who were in the eastbound car, were all also killed. It was first reported that Eric Wright, a native of Annona and a rapper going by the name of "Lil' Easy-E" was involved in the accident, but it was later determined that the rental car was just registered to his name, and he was not involved in the accident, but was a close friend of those who were killed.

Authorities say a passer-by discovered the cars in flames. Jennings says there were no witnesses.

Annona is about 150 miles northeast of Dallas, in nearby Red River County.
