It was another rough and tough performance in the Hopkins County Regional Civic Center Arena, on Saturday night, as cowboys from all across the U.S. pitted their skills against some of the top three-year old bulls in the business. Fifty rides were made during the show and an another twenty competed after the show, for prizes. Each of the bulls were scored on their performance, as well, and were competing for a $100,000.00 purse.
In the PBF Bullfighting competition, five teams, each sponsored by a local business, were competing for a combined top score, from both nights. The competition was so keen that the Texas Heritage National Bank Team was finally declared a winner, with only a one-point edge over the three time defending champions, Team City National Bank.
And, in the Free-Style Bullfighting competition, it was Kye Rieff of Miami, Oklahoma, that "edged out" his four competitors, to claim the crown. Reiff scored 90 points on his Saturday night performance and turned in the top Friday night score. However, those in attendance saw Kyle Lippencott, representing Holt Ag Business and from Holt, Missouri, post a 91 point score, as he delivered a spectacular performance.
And, let's not forget the bulls.....it was those "angry beasts" with names like, Jack Tar, Light Em Up, Jungle Cat, Outside the Box, and California King, that delighted the crowd with their intent on preventing those eight-second rides.
It was a night of excitement, thrill, and unmatched performance, in the 5th Annual Black/Gold Challenge.
