Match to Union Hill

It was Homecoming Night, in Sulphur Bluff, on Friday night, as they paused to name a new 2012 Homecoming King and Queen, at halftime of the boy's match-up with a tough Union Hill team. However, the Sulphur Bluff Bears, who found themselves "down" at halftime, never gave up! They lost the match-up 50-54, but held on with the "winning spirit" to make an outstanding performance for all the alumni in stands.

The Bears were down by four at the end of the first period 10-6. They fought back and made up some of the difference, by halftime, where Union Hill still held the lead.

The third quarter ended with a Union Hill lead of 46-34, as the Bears opened the fourth quarter with an assault that caught the Bulldogs "off guard." The Bears "poured it on" during the final period and tied the ballgame, with seconds left to play. However, they ran out of time, and lost the match-up by four points, when they were forced to foul in the last seconds and the Bulldogs added a couple of free throws to end the match at 54-50.

"We certainly got our money's worth tonight!" exclaimed a Sulphur Bluff alumni. "We definitely saw some great basketball and the Bears can certainly hold their heads up, for the valiant effort they gave on the court. I know the loss hurt, but they truly played their hearts out, trying to bring forth a win!"
