Sulphur Bluff Students Advance
To Regional UIL
From Sulphur Bluff ISD
Students from Sulphur Bluff High School competed in the District 18 Conference 1A UIL Academic Competition, on March 23rd, at Texas A&M University-Commerce. Regional competition will be held beginning April 19th thru 21st at Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches. Eleven total students from Sulphur Bluff will advance to the regional competition.
Those advancing include: (pictured above) Cade Argenbright, a member of the number sense team; Cheyenne Bryant in Headline writing; Casey Gore in Prose; Rebeccas Naylor in Lincoln Douglas Debate; Ester Marquez in Poetry; Sarah Williams in Prose; Tyler Raine in Editorial Writing; Ryan Watts as a member of the number sense team; Angie Alvarez in Number Sense; and Al Fowler in debate.
Twenty-one students from Sulphur Bluff competed in the District competition and helped earn points for Sulphur Bluff ISD.
District results includes:
Tyler Raine - 2nd in Editorial Writing.
Cheyenne Bryant - 2nd in Headline Writing.
Angie Alvarez - 2nd in Number Sense.
1st Team Number Sense - Cade Argenbright, Bruce Marrerro, Ryan Wats, Angie Alvarez.
Ester Marquez - 3rd Poetry.
Casey Gore - 2nd Prose.
Sarah Williams - 3rd Prose.
Rebeccas naylor & Al Fowler -LD Debate.
Sulphur Bluff School earned 4th Place in the school standings, ahead of Miller Grove, Roxton, Bloomburg, Saltillo, Ector, and Avinger.
Top Five Schools in the District and points earned were:
1. Savoy - 465
2. Dodd City - 174
3. Union Hill - 156
4. Sulphur Bluff - 148
5. Roxton - 80.5
