Senior Day at Fall Festival
Will Offer Arts & Crafts Show

From Karon Weatherman

Local Director of the Senior Center, Karon Weatherman advises that she plans to conduct a Fall Festival Art Contest and Show during the Senior Day Activities of the 2011 Fall Festival.

"I don't care if you made the item 50 years ago, 50 days ago, or 50 minutes before the contest!" explained Weatherman. "We want you to bring your items for this year's show!"

According to Weatherman, there will be 11 categories:

Painting

Drawing
Pottery/Ceramics

Photography
Jewelry Making

Knitting and Crochetting

Wood Working

Needlepoint/Embroidery

Computer Imagery

Mixed Media

Miscellaneous Crafts

"There should be a little something for everyone," states Weatherman. " If you  have something that you would like to submit, we will find a catagory to put it in.  You can enter something in up to 3 Categories and there isn't an entry fee!"

"You might win some nice ribbons or maybe a 'Special Award' in the contest," allowed Weatherman.  "I have some local artists and art teachers from here in Hopkins County that will be the judges... Heather Karstens, Terry Matthews, Leah Sparks, Mike and Pam Elliot, Phillip Dick and Jerry Lee."

Weatherman offered the following additional information:

The art work does not need to be turned in until September 13th which is Senior Day at the Fal1 Festival. I do however need you to turn in your application to me by August 12th.   I try to have something new every year at the Fall Festival for the Seniors for Hopkins County.  I know that we have a lot of very talented seniors in this County.  This is your year to SHINE and be RECOGNIZED.   This is for everyone over 50 years of age.    I have applications here at the Senior Center if you are interested.  You can even call me and I will take it over the phone.
