Senior Health Expo
Success For Hopkins County
Marketing Association
by: Bobby McDonald
With over 30 vendors and a host of enthusiastic senior citizens, the First Annual Hopkins County Senior Health Expo was termed a success by local organizers, the Hopkins County Marketing Association. The host group is an association of local healthcare providers, who introduced their many services to local senior citizens, on Tuesday morning, at New Beginnings Fellowship Church. "We are elated to have had such a response from the community," expressed host and Marketing Association member, Carla Garner. "We had a wonderful response from the community and had many vendors that are already planning an even larger expo next year!"
"P.K. Harris and I attended an event much like this in Paris, last year, and wanted to bring the concept to the citizens of Hopkins County," related Garner. "We know that there are many senior citizens that are unaware of the many services that are offered in Hopkins county, so we just decided that this would be a great way to introduce people to them!"
Cindy Feagley with Cypress Home Care, was one of the many speakers that
presented programs for senior citizens at Tuesday Health Expo.
"This was a wonderful way to meet people and tell them what we do," expressed Jackie Thornton, with the Hopkins County Memorial Hospital Foundation Board. "It give us a forum to explain our many services and see how we can be of service to others in the community!"
Scott Taylor, with Life Care Services, explains several of the services that his company offers to senior
citizens, at Tuesday's Health Fair.

"It's going to sting, just a little bit!".......Many senior citizens took advantage of Tuesday's Health
Expo to get their annual flu shot!
From flu shots, to home health care, to a variety of long term care programs, Tuesday's event offered almost any needed service to local senior citizens. A variety of speakers from the healthcare industry provided detailed information, in a series of presentations, throughout the morning.

"We're planning on an even larger event next year, now that the concept has been introduced to Hopkins County," explained Garner. "We have plans to move the venue to the Hopkins County Regional Civic Center, where we will have more room to accommodate an even large number of vendors!"
